Global Volunteer Opportunity


International Peace Commission is conducting international Volunteer service learning programme with the collaboration of more than 1000 Non governmental organizations (NGO) & Institutions around the world.
 
The IVSLP will provide training to young adults in leadership, community service & multi-cultural understanding of local & global issues.
 

Duties may include leading other volunteers, environmental, education, intensive backcountry camping with youth & attending educational trainings, orientations and retreats.
 

All IPC life members who are interested in volunteering abroad are herby directed to submit their Applications along with their brief CV & passport size photographs for the registration process.

Only life members/executive members are eligible to apply for the IVSL 2011-12 programme. 

EarthCorps & IPC International Volunteers Service Learning programme2009-10
 Position Announcement EarthCorps & IPC brings emerging community and environmental leaders from international environmental organizations to its Seattle-based service learning program. These international participants learn habitat restoration and leadership skills that will benefit their environmental organizations when they return to their home countries. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The EarthCorps International Corps member (ECI CM) is a training level, volunteer position in EarthCorps for non-US residents. EarthCorps provides environmental restoration training to young adults ages 18-25, along with leadership training, community service and multicultural understanding of local and global issues.
 

The ECI CM position involves heavy, physical work outdoors in all weather conditions. Duties may include leading other volunteers, environmental education, intensive backcountry camping with youth and attending educational trainings, orientations and retreats. The position reports to the Crew Leader who will serve as advisor to the crew. EarthCorps crews will be comprised of five Corps members and a Crew Leader. 

CORPS MEMBER TERMS OF TRAINING:

STATUS: Volunteer, temporary 

STIPEND: $240 / month
 
Fieldwork, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday with every other Saturday off
 

• 2 multi-day program retreats outside of Seattle throughout program
 
• Up to 6 camping work weeks in summer months
 




BENEFITS: 

• Travel Insurance premium paid for volunteer only.
 
• $240 / month living allowance
 
• Bus passes provided during term of service
 
• 1/3 of Airfare to and from Seattle, Washington, USA may be paid by EarthCorps up to $500.
 
• Host family (room and board) in Seattle
 
• Boots, pant, T-shirt and rain gear provided
 
EarthCorps & IPC will provide additional support in acquiring US J-1 Trainee visas by providing appropriate US immigration documentation and letters of support on behalf of EarthCorps program participants.
 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 

• Between 18-25 years old
 
• Interest in environmental field work and intercultural experience
 
• Willingness to work hard, including hard physical labor in all types of weather
 
• Interest in working with youth and the community
 
• Commitment to cooperation and teamwork with peers from around the world
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 

• 2 years of practical experience or secondary education in the environmental field
 
• Conversational English
 
• Written support from an organization working in the environmental field.
 
• No Criminal Record
